Things you can do in Corfu

 

There is much more to do in Corfu than sip cold drinks under the bright Greek sun and party at night.

 

Many people are seeking new challenges, adventures and experiences in addition to a nice tan and beach photos.

Watersports

 

From the humble pedalo, to the bouncy banana boat, to state-of-the-art wind surfing boards, you cannot go far on Corfu’s coastline without stumbling over a fantastic water sport facility centre.

 

Ipsos beach is one of the best beaches in Corfu for water sports enthusiasts and there are two large purpose built jetty's that cater for this. They offer pedalloes, para-gliding, water-skiing, ringo, banana rides and windsurfing.

Boat Rental

 

Boat rental is available at the harbour end of the beach. Larger boat trips run from the main jetty.

Diving

 

Ipsos claims to be the only dive outfit in Greece with a 54-inch decompression chamber. The dining club caters for beginners and advanced divers, as well as offering a number of BSAC and CMAS courses. Also the snorkellers and those who prefer to remain dry are welcome on the daily trips.

Cycling

 

Thousands of people come to Corfu each year exclusively for cycling. Everyone consider Corfu to be the ideal place for their favorite hobby. Your bike can take you to places that you would have otherwise discovered only on foot, you can feel the place and the people there, you can feel the peace and tranquility and discover deserted beaches. Slow cycling through shadowy roads or rough track with amazing views, are experiences which you shouldn't miss. Trekking

 

Thick vegetation, deserted villages, isolated chapels and a relatively smooth morphology make trekking in Corfu ecpecially interesting. Fragrant flowers, Byzantine and Venetian buildings, “secret” lakes and tiny rivers will cross your way from your very first off-road journey. The Municipality of the island organises path networks with the necessary signals and resting points, thus supporting you on your trekking through the nature of Corfu. Many people go to Corfu for the superb walking, usually out of season (April, May and June) when the island is blanketed in wild flowers.

Horse Riding

 

Few places offer so many possibilities for horse-riding as Corfu . The thick vegetation, the numerous abandoned paths and the habits left since the time that the English ruled the island, give riders today unique possibilities for enjoyable horse-riding. Regardless if you are beginner or experienced riders, the riding club will provide you with the suitable horseand equipment, so you can explore the enchanting countryside of Corfu.

 

Kite Surfing

 

The Kite Club Corfu is a licensed VDWS water station and operates in accordance with current safety standards. Instructors are trained at the KCC just as natural as life rafts. It caters for both beginners and experienced kite surfers. There you can learn kitesurfing step by step. They additionally offer climbers courses to train and improve individual maneuvers.

Paintball

 

The only business of its kind in Corfu, "PAINTBALL" promises to raise your adrenalin levels to the maximum! Let yourself be carried away by the thrill of this extreme sport and unwind with your friends. Split up into teams of 8-20 persons and beat the daylights out of your enemies! In a 5 acres area, hide behind giant trees, take up battle stations, take aim, and 'Fire!'

Parachute

 

Parachute is an exciting sport appropriate for who don't suffer from vertigo. In the South part of Corfu island, along the West coast there is Aghios Gordios bay where you can find a parachute school that offers possibilities for any level of experience. You will be at 400 metres altitude with an unforgettable view overlooking all Kerkyra island under the supervision of professional instructors.

Tennis

 

The first time that tennis was ever played in Greece was in Corfu at the late 1800s. Ever since then, Corfiots continue playing tennis to this day, as it has become a popular sport. Besides the historic Tennis Club of Corfu, organized courts exist in several hotels on the island. It is also important to know that matches of the world championship take place on the island every summer.

Golf

 

Corfu has got a well-known golf course (18 holes ). It's got the infrastructure and comfort that a golf player will need, as well as a unique environment that will enchant you. Designed by the famous architect Donald Harradine at Ropas meadow, at the region Ermones, Corfu Golf Club is open from March till November and it is suitable both for beginner and for experienced players.

Cricket

 

The tradition of 170 years continues to this day at the only place in Greece where cricket has serious foundations. Five clubs and two fantastic pitches are there for you if you want to come here with your team or alone and have a great time practicing your favorite sport. Official tournaments and friendly, inofficial matches are organized all summer long at the most spectacular pitch in Europe: at the Spianada square in the historic center of Corfu, while the pitch at the Marina, Gouvia is more comfortable and has got better infrastructure.
