Corfu by train – a scenic ride through the past and present
If you are tired after a long walk in the maze of the medieval narrow lanes of the historical center you can hop onto a sightseeing train to give your legs a much needed rest. The 35 – 40 minutes leisurely tour is an easy and fun way to see another part of Corfu Town and is very popular with children.
The train ride lets you appreciate beautiful scenery of Garitsa Bay, with the sights of the Old Fort and the windmill, make a short stop at the oldest Christian monument of the island, the church of St. Jason and Sosipatros and continues to the Kanoni Peninsula where the ancient city of Korkira was originally built.
You can catch the train every hour, starting at 10am (outside the main season at 11am). Tours start and finish at the Pentofanaro spot, on the Spianada Square, right next to the famous Liston promenade. During the high season, you can enjoy the ride until 11 pm, in the low season until 7pm. Be sure to check the departures beforehand, so you can plan accordingly. Small children up to 4 years old are free; children between 5 – 12 years old pay €4, while the adult price is €6.
