6 reasons to visit Corfu in June
Let’s face it: there is never really a bad season in Corfu.
Of course, everyone is different and looking for different things from a holiday. If you are a sun worshiper, then July and August will suit you. This is the busiest time of the year with prominent nightlife scene and beach parties in full swing. If you are a solitude seeker or a nature lover, choose April, May or October.
But if you call yourself an explorer, then June is the best time to come.
1> In June the days are the longest
giving you the opportunity to make the most of your stay. You can easily squeeze a shopping trip, a sightseeing tour and water sport fun into one day and still have time to admire a spectacular sunset while enjoying your dinner.
2> Just relax everywhere
Fancy a BBQ boat trip? Finding a space on the boat overloaded with enthusiastic tourists is not so fun. You do not have to worry though. In June you will have all the space you want plus more personal approach from the guide/captain/crew etc. The same applies to museums, monuments or sightseing in general.
3> Beaches close to perfection
In June, the sea has usually warmed up enough to make swimming a joy, without having to share your stretch of sand with plenty of other visitors. Finding a secluded beach is not mission impossible.
4> Cultural events
There is plenty going on in June! Apart from many traditional festivals with live music, dancing, food and wine where you can mingle with locals, there are also exhibitions, concerts and sports events on the agenda. Do not miss the fire jumping on St. John’s Eve and the Gastronomy festival.
5> Fun in the sun
June weather will rarely disappoint you. Boasting an average of 12 hours of sunshine a day, the temperature is raising to 25°C. Typically it should only rain four days out of the month of June and even then the rainfall is only a mere 20mm. The maximum average temperature at this time of year is a high 28°C and a minimum low temperature of 17°C. Cool evenings ensure a good night's sleep.
6> Easy on your pocket!
Last but not least I should mention that the prices in June are much more budget-friendly than later in summer. So why not to take advantage of this opportunity?
No matter who you travel with or how long you stay, there are simple joys that you do not want to miss. Forget the grind of daily routine. Explore new places, meet new people, try new foods, and learn things about the island — and yourself — that you never imagined were possible.
